Fritz Jean-Baptiste, Tournament Director
Fritz began playing pickleball several years ago and has since made it a daily part of his life - on and off the court. Known for his enthusiasm and genuine love for the game, Fritz has earned the nickname “the Mayor of Pickleball” for his ability to bring people into the sport and make them feel welcome from day one.

The waiver only needs to be signed once unless it is updated by Beyond The Line LLC.

How is Round Robin Pool Play Planned?
Round Robin Pool Play is conducted in groups of 3 – 6 teams. Each team competes against every other team within their assigned pool. Match results determine playoff seeding and rankings. The top 8 teams advance to the playoffs.
Are Registration Fees Refundable?
Registration fees are non-refundable.
However, registrations are fully transferable.
Players may:
✔ Transfer their registration to another eligible division
✔ Transfer their registration to a future tournament
✔ Transfer their registration to another player
All transfers are subject to division eligibility, event policies, and availability.
This approach allows us to maintain tournament operations while providing flexibility for our players.
Prize Pool Policy
Prize pools are based on division participation.
Divisions with 12 or more teams receive full guaranteed payouts.
Divisions with fewer than 12 teams will receive scaled prize pools adjusted proportionally based on the final number of registered teams.
All divisions are intended to proceed as scheduled, and final prize payouts are confirmed once registration closes and team counts are finalized.
This participation-based model ensures fairness, competitive integrity, and a high-quality tournament experience.
What’s the difference between Team and Free Agent registration?
Team Registration:
You register with a partner as a team. The registered player will be asked to name their partner 2 weeks before the tournament.
Free Agent Registration:
You register individually, and we match you with a partner.
Free Agent registration includes a small additional fee for matchmaking services.
We work actively to match Free Agents with compatible partners. If matching becomes limited, we will refund the registration, minus the $10 agency fee.
Do I need to list my partner at checkout?
No. You can secure your spot today and add your partner later. We will collect partner information as the tournament approaches, typically 2 weeks prior to the tournament date.
Are there age restriction to play?
Yes. You must be 18 years of age to register and play with Blk Paddle.
Are there age brackets?
No. This tournament does not use age brackets. All ages are welcome to compete within the division and skill level that accurately reflects their ability.
What skill levels are available, and how should I choose mine?
We use DUPR-aligned skill ranges to maintain competitive consistency:
3.0–3.49: Developing competitors, learning the dynamics of tournament play while building consistency, confidence, and foundational strategy
3.5–3.99: Solid competitors with reliable shots, improving court awareness, and increasing tactical decision-making.
4.0–4.49: Advanced players with strong control, quick hands, and the ability to execute strategy under pressure.
4.5–4.99: Elite competitors with exceptional speed, precision, and anticipation, capable of executing advanced strategies against top-tier opponents.
DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) is the standard rating system used across the country. A DUPR rating is not required to participate, but players should select the level that best reflects their true play.
Player ratings are validated in DUPR.
Important:
Higher levels offer a more competitive experience.
Players must play the same skill level across all divisions they enter.
Playing down is not allowed.
What are the gender eligibility guidelines?
We follow the gender-play standards of the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA):
Men’s Doubles = two men
Women’s Doubles = two women
Mixed Doubles = one man + one woman
Gender divisions follow the Professional Pickleball Association guidelines, which base eligibility on gender assigned at birth.
Can I play in more than one division?
Yes. You may register for:
Men’s / Women’s Doubles, and
Mixed Doubles
Just remember: Your skill level must remain the same across every division you enter.

MIXED Divisions will run on Sun., August 30 MORNING | Arrive at 8:00 AM EST
Can I sell products, services, or merchandise at the tournament?
No. Onsite sales, marketing, solicitation, and product promotion are limited to official BLK Paddle approved vendors and sponsors only. Players, spectators, and guests may not sell or promote products or services on tournament grounds without prior written approval from BLK Paddle. Vendor opportunities are available.
